Pros/Good:
- Several different outlets to market your printed items (Local, Etsy, eBay, Amazon)
- Can premake and custom make items to sell
- Inexpensive startup costs
- Compliment with a Scanning service
Cons/Bad:
- Takes a long time to print one object
- You must learn technical skills in the printers Design software
- Very competitive – there are many individuals 3D printing as a side gig
- Low profit margins IF you’re not selling something unique (already on Etsy)
- Once you find something good to print, there tends to be copycats pop up and start selling the same print
Tips:
- Continue to innovate new items and improve current items in order to stay ahead of the competition.
- Stay under the copycat radar with obscure prints. Try to find a collection of these lesser known items to offer. They tend to get ignored by other printers.
